Tiny Christmas

This is our first Christmas in the glamper.

There isn’t room for our tree.

All my decorations are still in storage.

It is drafty.

I love it.

Our space is cozier and more intimate. We have to snuggle up with blankets because it’s a little draftier.

I bought a cheap tiny little countertop tree and decorations for it at the dollar store. Tman sat up on the island and helped me put on all of the Christmas balls. One strand of lights for the electric fireplace and a few stockings with Command hooks and BOOM! Within about 15 minutes we were all decorated for the holidays. I don’t miss the big tree or the hours it took to get everything in its place. I don’t miss the window lights or decorating the outside of the house. I love that we have a tiny Christmas this year.

It isn’t perfect, but here is a look at our tiny Christmas!

Eric also got the skirting done around the camper. It was a full blown DIY project but with some help, he was able to get everything insulated before the really cold weather hit. There is even a little door on the front enclosure for his so-called ‘man-cave’. He also insisted on getting some lights on the tree just outside. It adds just the right amount of magic to our home.

I love this new tiny life. When asked what we want for Christmas, there really isn’t anything we NEED. And there surely isn’t room for a bunch of stuff either! Tman is just over a year so he isn’t really asking for things just yet, but come next year, we will be trying to decide what we want to get him.

I LOVE the idea of the 3-Gift Christmas.

The 3-Gift Christmas is inspired by the notion that Jesus received three gifts from the Wise Men – gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Likewise, your children will receive 3 gifts for Christmas. It is a way to stay on budget, ease the stress of the holidays or get away from the commercialism that permeates December. This can help to simplify gift giving so that you can focus on the real reason for the season, the birth of Jesus, instead of ‘Gimme, gimme, gimme’ and ‘What can I put on my list?’ It can also be a way to switch the holiday thinking to family and faith instead of stuff because you know that stuff is just gonna pile up in the house.

You may not be going as tiny as we are, but want less stuff stealing space in your home. Here are some more gift ideas that focus on experiences rather than things:

1. Concert tickets

2. A Message

3. Events Tickets

4. Gift Cards

5. Movie Tickets

6. Family Portrait Session

7. A Membership

8. Cleaning Service

9. Classes

10. Savings Account or Stocks

These are just a few and if you have someone on your list that really wants something specific, by all means, go for it! Just make sure that you are taking the time to love on those that you are with. <3
